FSA/HSA Reimbursement
If your healthcare provider recommends a weight loss program for a specific condition, you might be able to use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for the Cleveland Clinic Diet app.
Just follow a few basic steps to use money from your FSA or HSA to reimburse your Cleveland Clinic Diet app subscription:
- Obtain written documentation from your healthcare provider that a weight loss program is recommended for a specific condition. You can use this template letter of medical necessity. Please do not send your letter to the Cleveland Clinic Diet app; it should only be submitted to your FSA/HSA provider.
- Subscribe to the Cleveland Clinic Diet app. To simplify the reimbursement process, we recommend subscribing to the annual plan. Talk to your FSA/ HSA provider to understand the reimbursement process for the monthly/annual plans. When you subscribe, you’ll receive a receipt from Apple or Google to the email address they have on file.
- To be reimbursed, submit your receipt and the letter of medical necessity to your HSA/FSA provider. Be sure to check with your benefits or HR representative, as eligibility varies by plan.
Not sure what an FSA/ HSA is? No worries!
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) are special savings accounts for healthcare expenses. Some employers offer them to help employees pay medical costs with pre-tax income. If your employer offers an FSA or HSA, you can contribute a portion of each paycheck into the account before taxes are deducted, which helps to lower your taxable income. You can use the money in your FSA or HSA to pay for eligible expenses, like prescriptions, doctor visits, and other eligible costs not covered by insurance. Typically, you have to spend all the money in your FSA or HSA by the end of the year, or you might lose it. Check with your HR representative or benefits provider to learn more about access to an FSA or HSA.
